P-pop sensations BINI and BGYO will perform their original songs live for the first time in their two-night virtual sibling concert, “One Dream: The BINI & BGYO Concert,” on November 6 and 7 on KTX.PH, iWantTFC, and TFC IPTV, following the release of their chart-topping debut albums “Born to Win” and “The Light” this month.

Aside from BINI and BGYO, the November 6 evening will feature thrilling performances by guest musicians AC Bonifacio, Kritiko, and KZ Tandingan. Meanwhile, on November 7, BINI and BGYO will host a fan meet on KTX.PH, featuring more live collabs, sub-unit performances, and stunning vocal displays.

Listen Up, Rising Artist Raven’s Got Us Tuning In for More

At the fresh age of 21, Cavite-based producer, singer-songwriter and melodic rapper Raven’s been making some noise online and we’re definitely here for all of it, stoked to have had him over for OPM Highlights.

Raven’s got a growing number of listeners and followers on his social media and music platforms, including 18,000 monthly listeners on Spotify with his independently released single in 2020, “Ngayon Lang To”, even getting 100,000 plays since its release.

“Noong nilabas ko siya last year, magisa ako no’n eh,” Raven relates, sharing a bit more about his one man show behind the creation of his music, “‘Di ko po kasi naexpect dati na  maraming makikinig sa mga songs ko, mga ginagawa ko pong videos kasi iyon nga po, magisa lang ako. Pero noong naappreciate ng mga tao ‘yung mga gawa ko, sobrang saya ko po no’n tsaka mas lalo akong ginagnahan gumawa ng mga kanta.”

More Jams on the Rise, Catch We Got’s Upcoming Releases

The 8-piece band is back on OPM Highlights, and we’re just as excited as they are for their upcoming music to be released very soon.

But, like other artists today, We Got shares that being under the pandemic has definitely brought a change towards their experiences in pursuing their music. “Medyo malungkot eh, hindi fulfilling- yung mga appearances ba,” guitarist Makoy relates on the difference of their pre and current gigs, “I’m not saying all the appearances, kasi ito lang ‘yung way natin ngayon eh.
Pero siyempre, mas gusto namin yung nandiyan kami mismo sa harap niyo, kumbaga na sa studio, makkapagkwentuhan tayo ng mas maganda.”

We Got drummer Thoper shares the same sentiments, “Namimiss namin ‘yung mga live gigs, lalo na ngayong summer na dumaan. Mas maganda talaga ‘yung face to face na performance, nakakamiss.”

Facing the challenge of the new normal head on, We Got’s been in the works for an upcoming EP and single ‘Panahon’ to be released this July 2021. Makoy talks about the anticipation for their new music and even a video they recently shot for it, “it’s all about the weather, it was originally about a getaway pero the video was different from it, medyo nabali siya ng onti pero swi-nak siya doon sa situation ng pandemic.”

Hopeful and Timely, Noel Cabangon, Ebe Dancel, Johnoy Danao and Bullet Dumas’s Collaboration is Just What We Needed

Written by iconic Filipino artist Noel Cabangon, ‘Gagaan Din Ang Buhay’ is a song that’s been much awaited for because of the collaboration of Noel here himself along with prominent, solo acoustic-driven performers Ebe Dancel, Johnoy Danao and Bullet Dumas- also collectively known as 3D. The song and how the collaboration on it came to life, Noel, Ebe, and Johnoy visited OPM Highlights to talk about just that.

The four much loved and followed singer-songwriters came together in likeness of their musical style, composition, view and values in the social matters of present-day Filipino society. When the project was initiatied and invited by Noel, Ebe and Johnoy shared the excitement to take part in it with one of their musical heroes growing up.

“I grew up listening to him, pinagiipunan ko ‘yan dati si Noel, nanonood ako ng mga shows niya sa 70’s Bistro,” Ebe relates, “so to actually be collaborating with him again- kasi mayroon na kaming ginawa ni Noel a few years back, but to be part of this project, it was a fun experience for all four of us.”

Johnoy shared the same excitement. “When it comes to ‘yung nag-invite si Noel, it’s very, sabihin nating madali- madali lang para sa akin na magdecide kung sasama ako dito sa project na ito dahil number one, si Noel Cabangon ‘yan, pinapanood ko si Noel Cabangon bago pa ako mag solo artist, actually may banda pa ako no’n. Pinapanood namin si Noel sa 70’s Bistro kasi ‘yun ‘yung kaniyang bahay,” he adds, “every Wednesday pumupunta ako doon para manood at makiusap na rin na baka pwede akong sumingit sa set niya. So it was very easy for me to decide na mag-yes sa project na ito.”

The folk-rock track’s dynamic guitar riffs and mix of melodic and firm vocals of all four artists ultimately came together in harmony and encouraging message.

Noel expressed, “‘Gagaan Din Ang Buhay’ is a song about collaboration, solidarity and hope. Tungkol po ito sa nararanasan natin ngayon, kung nasaan tayo ngayon, kinalalagyan natin, and kailangan ng mga ganitong kanta na nagbibigay sa atin ng pag-asa kahit papaano- at tungkol ‘din ito sa mga maraming nangyayari sa ating bansa at kapiligiran,” he adds, “that’s basically the general meaning of the song, ‘Gagaan Din Ang Buhay’, from the title itself naghahanap ng ikagagaan ng mabigat nating buhay ngayon.”

Giving a bit of insight on the process of the song’s ideation and becoming, Johnoy also tells what it was like for the group. “Naisip namin na kailangan ng onting grit ‘yung song,” he shares, “somehow pag malumnanay ‘yung kanta, mas gusto mo’ng matulog lang or something. Pero ito, paragn gusto mo’ng gisingin ‘yung kaluluwa ng mga Pilipino dahil medyo down talaga tayo for the past few months, year and a half. Kailangan natin ng something to jolt our spirits, and this song would definitely do that.”

Fresh and Vibin’, Meet Quatro and His Easy-listening and Crafted Songs

Quatro is a young artist with fresh, mellow yet vibin’ songs released so far and he’s visited OPM Highlights to introduce himself and his artistry. A singer, songwriter and producer whose worked with artists in the local indie scene such as Reese Lansangan, Tandems’ 91, HNH, he’s also a mechanical engineer fresh graduate who’s continuing his craft in music as he waits for board exams to come around.

When asked of how his career as an artist will thrive when the time that the board exams arrive and are overcome, he relates that his love for music will still be very much present and around.
“Feel ko kaya ko siya pagsabayin, engineering tsaka music. Pero hindi mawawala sa puso ko yung music, ‘yun ‘yung gusto kong gawin- ‘yun ‘yung passion ko.”

Quatro, who’se named Joshua Cruz in everyday life, has released two songs so far- his debut song ‘Alas Tres’, and his latest single ‘Alaskwatro Y Medya’, both released in April 2021, both inspired from the idea of time.

“Sa akin kasi, maganda ‘yung concept ng time. Kasi ‘yung time, parang nirerecord niya yung mga importanteng details ng buhay natin. Like for example and birthday natin, ‘di ba every year sine-celebrate natin siya,” he expreesses, “so yung ‘Alas Tres’ it just so happened na maganda ‘yung nangyari noong time na ‘yun kaya sumulat ako ng kanta for that particular time.”

Same goes with break-up song ‘Alaskwatro Y Medya’, his follow up single inspired from his friend’s experience. A very chill and lo-fi vibed track with its downbeat yet great-to-bop-to tempo and, Alaskwatro Y Medya compliments Quatro’s melodic voice. “Kahit break-up song siya, gusto ko vibe niya, chill lang. Parang balance lang- malungkot, pero nagchi-chill ka ‘rin, nagvivibe ka with the song.”

Produced by the young artist himself, it’s definitely a song that can make or break your heart. The song can even serve as the perfect song to just play and listen to as you study or work, and this was one idea Quatro had in mind while creating it. “‘Yung mga gano’ng vibe kasi, nainspire po ako dati noong nagaaral po ako. Kasi habang nag-aaral kami ng mga friends ko, nakikinig kami ng mga music na chill lang ‘din,” he adds, “parang ‘dun ako nainspire na gusto ko habang may ginagawa ‘yung tao, pwede sila makinig ng music na madali lang pakinggan, ‘yung mapapasabay sila.”

Quatro is cooking up a few more songs he plans to produce and share soon. Excited to explore different sounds and genres with them, he notes that we can surely look forward to the
narrative of these upcoming tracks. “One thing is istoriya siya. Let’s say experience ko, experience ng mga kabigan ko, mga istoriya ng mga tao na makakarelate sila para andoon yung connection pag nakikinig ‘yung tao tsaka ‘yung music ko.”

A pride of Sorsogon, Vincent Jao III’s been gaining recognition and praise for his warm and welcoming voice accompanied by his smooth and chill music style, and he’s visited OPM Highlights to share a bit more on this and his latest single.

Like many artists today, Vincent is keeping up with the changes brought by the pandemic, not letting the new normal stand in the way of his art and passion. “During the pandemic, parang umiikot lang ang buhay ko sa online schooling and kapag may breaktime gagawa ako ng kanta, and gumagawa rin ako ng mga covers and post them on my social media accounts.”

Vincent is pessing on in pursuing his musical career, releasing his latest single ‘Kung Ikaý Mawawala’ -and we’re definitely here for it. Performed on OPM Highlights, the track is a pop
ballad driven by soft plucks of guitar and percussion that builds up into power throughout the song along with Vincent’s beautiful tone and melody- depicting the idea of moving on yet
remaining hopeful in the experience of losing someone special.

His musical influences are mostly lounge-like, smooth and jazzy artists such as Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra, and this ultimately resonates in the young singer’s clear and heartfelt voice. When ask what inspired him to take on a pop ballad direction for this new single, he shares that the mellow sound and genre is also a part of his taste in music. “Hilig ko rin kasi yung ganitong type ng music, like mga easy-listening songs. Sobrang fan ‘din ako ng mga soul singers.”
