Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington has died after ‘taking his own life’ through hanging. He was 41.
His body was found at a private home in LA county.
The singer is said to have struggled for years with alcohol and drug abuse, and in the past has talked about contemplating suicide as a result of being a victim of abuse as a child.
He leaves a wife, and six children from two marriages.
Meanwhile, tributes to Bennington flooded in soon after news of his death.
For a generation growing up in the early 2000s, it would have been difficult not to find someone who didn’t own a copy of Linkin Park’s debut album Hybrid Theory.
The band which was formed in 1996 have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and bagged two Grammy Awards.
Some of their hits include Faint, In The End, Numb and Crawling.
